Toby proudly hails from the twin isles of Trinidad and Tobago. He comes from a family of athletic champions, with both his father and mother having excelled in various sports. Toby himself has a diverse range of sporting experience, having participated in soccer, basketball, track, and cricket. Despite his athletic gifts, he also appears to have a warm and calming personality that endears him to others. It's clear that Toby is a highly motivated and focused individual who has been shaped by his upbringing and his experiences in both sports and life.
Toby's parents instilled in him a strong belief in the importance of education, which influenced his academic pursuits. He excelled in math and science, which led him to initially consider a career in oceanography. However, he became increasingly fascinated by the human body's fragility and strength, which eventually led him to choose a career in neurosurgery. To pursue his academic goals, Toby's family moved to New York in the United States, which presented its own set of challenges. Despite being forced to attend eleventh and twelfth grade in high school due to differences in educational systems, Toby was fortunate to be placed in Advanced Placement classes, which allowed him to continue pursuing his passion for sports. It's clear that Toby's determination and commitment to both his education and athletic pursuits were instrumental in helping him overcome these obstacles.
Determined to be an all-around success, Toby took part in all running and jumping competitions. He took his love for sports so seriously, knowing this was a vehicle that would eventually pay for his college education. Another coach suggested that he take part in the multievent pentathlon. The pentathlon consisted of hurdles, long jump, high jump, shot put and 1500-meter dash. Toby excelled as a pentathlete and made it to the national level of competitions. In his senior year of high school, his parents and coach decided that Toby would live with his coach and train full-time in preparation for the college. His life consisted of training, school, and church.
Toby gained the attention of scouts from several D1 colleges. He decided on a private catholic institution, Mount Saint Mary’s College, and Seminary. Majoring in Biology, Toby enjoyed his time at Saint Mary’s. It didn’t take him long to get acquainted with his new track team, who have now become lifelong friends. Toby simultaneously studied and sat for his Medical School (MCATS) and Dental School (DATS) entry exams. After college, Toby received a call from Trinidad informing him that he qualified to represent his country in the Olympics. His performance was extraordinary, still holding the top pole vault record of all time in Trinidad & Tobago.
Toby later relocated to Atlanta. Atlanta is known for its vibrant fitness and wellness industry, and Toby saw an opportunity to make a career out of his passion for health and fitness. As a personal trainer, and a track and field coach. He loves to share his knowledge and expertise with others, helping them to achieve their fitness goals and improve their overall health and well-being. As a track and field Coach, Toby’s students excelled! Many graduate equipped with full scholarships, move on to attend D1 colleges and become professional athletes.
